Being in hot water

Of course I am being literal! It has been almost 5 months since we got a hot tub plunked into our back yard. I can’t remember ever being so happy with a purchase. Having the use of my parents hot tub and growing up taking so much for granted just isn’t the same thing.

Every night that I have been home, I have used our new tub. It is a most excellent feeling to slip into the warm water and enjoy whatever late night weather show that mother nature is putting on for our viewing pleasure. I never realized how dynamic the changing night sky can be, even in the space of an hour.

It turns out that not only does the warm water make you “feel” good, but it can have positive impact on your health. The warm water relaxes muscles, soothes tension and relieves stress. Taken before bed, the rise in body temperature sets the stage for a good nights sleep. We also have a chance to talk without the interruptions of our daily life.

This more relaxed person that I have become has additional side benefits. I have more energy to take on projects, both at work and home. This has made a difference in my communication style. I have a little more patience and empathy for people around me. If I had known all these benefits before, I would have pushed harder for this purchase years ago!

I turned 40 last year and this hot tub was one of my big presents. It was without a doubt, my best birthday year.
