Déjà vu is the phenomenon of having the strong sensation that an event or experience currently being experienced has been experienced in the past. Usually that happens to me in a more detached way, like a sense that I can’t put my finger on.
Today, there was no confusion about IF the past experience was real or not. It happened. As documented in this blog at New Carpet – October 2, 2011.
The process was the same. Roll over to a couple of local stores, look for a big carpet that would be easy to care for, soft and cozy. But nothing is easy to care for when it comes to cat pee. And when the animal uses it for weeks as a lovely, soft cat box, well there you have it. It says something about how little we use that room in the summer. It took weeks for us to pin down what that smell was and where it was coming from.
Once we started to try to pull the stains out, the smell got so much worse. By that time, the carpet was out on our deck, but we couldn’t leave it out there night after night. Cats like to remark their pee territory, again and again. We finally took it to the dump.
So the good stuff is the fantastic feeling of rolling out the new rug and giving it a first vacuum. The kids relaxed in front of the TV to watch a movie. The pile felt lovely underfoot, digging your toes in always feels divine.
